Moving house comes with several challenges due to excitement that comes with it. Household items may be broken or lost in the process. Therefore, it is vital to pack personal effects in a proper manner. The following points come in handy in such a process;
Get good packaging materials such as the carton boxes, straps, and suit cases. Arrange personal effects in the boxes, starting with the heaviest at the bottom. The strings or the straps should be used to fasten the boxes using undo knots so that it is convenient to unstring the boxes at the final destination or in case of adjustments. Canvas and polythene are used in a move where one suspects the effect of weather elements such as rain.
Pack items of value with caution. These include precious stones, medals, jewellery and any fragile items. Consider special means of transportation; choose a reputable freight company and corresponding insurance cover on such items. Pack in an orderly way, starting with the heaviest at the bottom and light ones at the top. Align each item in a manner that there are no spaces left in between them. Optimising on the available space will reduce on the bulkiness of the entire things one intends to move. Slightly stronger items can be stuffed on the side ways of the boxes. Important documents such as academic certificates, appointment letters, title deeds and identity cards must be packaged in a more reasonable way, possibly in a suit case or secure hand bag.
Each of the packages should be of reasonable size. Minute packaging will cause unnecessary inconveniences. Some may get lost by the way. Moderate the packaging so that the boxes are not over stuffed. The boxes and the suit cases may break due to internal force. Exerting excess force on the carton boxes may be destructive and risky.
Seek additional manpower since some packaging might require more than two hands to tighten the boxes in the right way. You might just get an idea you did not have initially by involving someone else.
Classify all the items in the boxes labelling them clearly. Fragile and brittle items should be separated from the tough ones, packaged together and labelled. Electronics such as the LEDs and LCDs should be sealed in appropriate cushions. Close the fluid or liquid tins and bottles then arrange them keeping in mind the “up” side taking care to prevent spillage. The other category might be of weight and bulkiness. Separate them and pack them in order. On labelling, the name of the owner and destination may be included, especially when shipping personal effects.
